Corneal Perforation Treatment

A corneal perforation is a sight-threatening emergency. Urgent specialist care helps seal the eye and protect vision.

The cornea is the clear front window of the eye. Infection, injury or inflammation can thin it to the point of perforation. Our team assesses each case urgently and chooses the least invasive effective way to restore the eye's integrity.

What is corneal perforation?

Corneal perforation is a full-thickness break in the cornea, allowing fluid from inside the eye to leak out. It may result from a severe corneal ulcer (infection), trauma, autoimmune disease or severe dry eye. Without treatment it can lead to infection inside the eye and permanent vision loss.
