Retinal Detachment Surgery

A detached retina is an eye emergency. Prompt surgery gives the best chance of preserving vision.

Call Now
When the retina separates from the wall of the eye, it loses its blood supply and stops working. Early warning signs often appear before a full detachment. If you notice them, seek an eye examination as soon as possible.

What is retinal detachment?

Retinal detachment occurs when the retina — the thin light-sensitive layer lining the back of the eye — lifts away from its supporting tissue. The most common type follows a tear in the retina that lets fluid pass underneath. Detachment can also be caused by scar tissue pulling on the retina (common in advanced diabetic eye disease) or by fluid build-up from inflammation.
